Cantor Anita Schubert has been the cantor of Beth Sholom B'nai Israel in Manchester, CT since 2001. Born in Brooklyn, she grew up in Queens and Lynbrook, L.I. Prior to coming to Manchester, Hazzan Schubert served Conservative, Reconstructionist, and Reform congregations in Chicago, New Jersey, and Maryland. She received her training through study with cantors and other teachers in the New York City and Washington, D.C. areas. She has a B.S. in education from the University of Rochester, and a master’s degree from the University of Maryland.
Cantor Schubert is a member of the Cantors Assembly, and is a past president of the Women Cantors’ Network. Her husband, Reuven Perry, is a custom furniture designer.
