Rabbi Aaron Jaffee brings nearly two decades as a Jewish educator to his role as Principal of the Leon Wind Religious School at Beth Sholom B’nai Israel. Equally as important, he brings a smile and enthusiasm — not to mention his family — to our Hebrew School.
He joined the synagogue in 2006 after teaching at a variety of levels in the U.S., Australia and Israel. Among the many subjects he has taught are Talmud, Navi, laws, bible, Jewish history, and Jewish philosophy. He also developed a series of Talmudic curriculum booklets for various ages, relating Talmudic knowledge to real-life situations.
In addition to his experience teaching, his experience includes rabbinical positions at Young Israel, N.J. and Elsternwick Jewish Community Synagogue in Melbourne, Australia. He also was the senior Rabbi of kosher supervision in Atlantic City, Washington D.C., and the Star-K of Baltimore. Additionally, he served as a lecturer, High Holiday speaker, educator, and counselor at Mizrachi Synagogue, and a supervising teacher at Monash University, both of Melbourne, Australia.
He earned his rabbinical ordination (smicha) while living in Israel at Pirchei Shoshanim College. He holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in theology from Redding University. He also spent two years in private studies in child development with Dr. Sam Gomberg of Harvard University.
