Rabbi Richard Plavin Library
Beth Sholom B’nai Israel features an extensive library for you to expand your Jewish knowledge on topics ranging from baseball to the borscht belt. Whether you are looking for interesting pleasure reading or want to delve deeply into a topic, the BSBI library offers free use of books for members.
- Books may be borrowed for four weeks.
- To borrow a book visit the library. Fill out the card in the book with your name and place it in the small box on the cabinet. It will then be scanned into the computer.
The Children’s Library, located in the Silverstein Center, has an extensive selection of books, ranging from board books for toddlers, through novels for middle school students. The collection is divided by subject, so it’s easy to find something for holidays, life cycle events, moral issues such as kindness or charity, or just stories with a Jewish flavor. You can also search the library computer by subject, as well as author and title, if you are looking for something on a specific topic. As in the adult library, each book has a card that must be filled out and placed in the small card box. Returned books can be left in the cabinet in the adult library.
The complete catalog is available on the library computer as a pdf file that lists the contents of our collection. This document is searchable from home by title and author (press “ctrl” and “f” keys on your keyboard, then type in the box that appears on the screen).
