7:30 PM - 9:00 PMON SCREEN AT BSBI (AND ALSO AVAILABLE ON ZOOM)
An educator from the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco will lead us through past and current exhibitions, exploring the life stories of artists before and during World War II, and their determination to resist the Nazi regime and survive. Included will be the stories of photographer Roman Vishniac, artists Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore. There will also be highlights of their current exhibition Oz is for Oznowicz: A Puppet Family’s History, which is the remarkable true story of puppeteers Mike and Frances Oznowicz, the parents of Frank Oz, known for his work on Sesame Street, the Muppet Show, and as Yoda, of Star Wars.
The program will be projected onto a large screen at the synagogue and refreshments will follow. We also plan to provide a Zoom link for those who wish to watch remotely (or for everyone, if there is bad weather).
